May the struggle for real democratic representation in countries like Venezuela act as a much needed reminder how fragile political systems can be and how hard it is to re-establish them once they are gone.
Is democracy sometimes slow or exhausting? Sure. But without it your country could be locked in decades of destructive power struggles where nearly everybody loses.
Will Norway get reductions in tariffs for choosing a Maduro opponent? Or will it get an increase in tariffs for mentioning that "democracy is also in retreat internationally"?
The latter might be too subtle to notice for certain people though.
More likely we'll get slammed with punitive tariffs because the corrupt rapist dictator didn't get it, just like when China basically stopped all imports from Norway when the peace prize was awarded to Liu Xiaobo.
