    I'm so glad that other people here are interested in what life was like in deep time. I find it so fascinating getting these little glimpses into worlds that lie buried beneath us, and just to tantalizingly out of reach.

      What blows my mind is that the homo-lineage was around for a million years, and they're finding we interbred many times throughout that time.

      It was only in the last 10-20k years or so where farming emerged.

      I don't know, but I think it's incredible how little time has passed relatively compared to our long history, of us being domesticated.

        I watched the Herzog doc “Cave of Forgotten Dreams” [0] a few weeks ago and highly recommend it (about cave art ~30~15kya; borrowed the dvd from local library). There are some goofy bits but overall is amazing. My favorite part is how there are different paintings in the same cave separated by around 4k years — some “tracing” the previous paintings. It reminds me how Ancient Egypt had such a long history there were Egyptologists within ancient Egypt. [1]
